Hi Eleanor, This is one beautiful hotel, the English sure know how to get other people to do their bidding (they certainly have enough practice don’t they?). Anyway, the weather is a bit hotter than I’d prefer, but I think anyone would rather be here instead of Sarajevo, with the recent assassination of Franz Ferdinand. I’m sorry to say it, but I believe that all of Europe could somehow get pulled into the mess. I just wrote to some friends back in Freshwater Beach Australia. Boy, are they going to be thrilled when that Surfer from Hawaii whom I met, that “Duke” gentleman I’ve I told you of, pays them a visit. He sounded quite interested when I invited him to stay at the beach house, and told him that he should introduce that wonderful skill to the rest of the world. He said he’d probably take me up on it within the year. I really believe that we could make something of the sport at home if he helped it catch on. Sincerely yours, John.
